With the success of the buddy cop/action film 2 Guns starring Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg, anyone looking for more action featuring Steadman and Trench only has to go as far as the nearest comic shop to check out the sequel to Stephen Grant’s 2 Guns comic book series from BOOM! Studios. Grant and artist Emilio Laiso’s 3 Guns miniseries debuted from BOOM! Studios last month. The comic book sequel to 2 Guns continues the fractious love/hate relationship between the two heroes, which was translated almost perfectly to the big screen by director Baltasar Kormankur whose film adaptation of 2 Guns took the box office crown during its debut weekend (see "'2 Guns' Wins Box Office Shootout").
In 3 Guns (see "BOOM! Plans '2 Guns' Sequel") Steadman and Trench are on the run from both the Feds and drug kingpins when they acquire a new partner, who is quite naturally a source of further infighting and strife, but who also becomes more of a necessity as the Russian mafia and anti-American revolutionaries join the ranks of the trio’s adversaries.
