Doc Savage is due for a big revival, as director Shane Black (Iron Man 3) is moving forward on the film (see "Black Returns to 'Doc Savage'") and Dynamite Entertainment is launching a comic series.

Black talked about his concepts for the film in an interview with IGN, in which he revealed that he wants the character to be somewhat damaged in his perfection.  "We’ve beefed up the rationale behind what it would take to be the perfect person and to be trained as such from childhood and how that would scar someone," he said.   The story will be set in the 1930s.  Black is looking for a tall, physically imposing actor to play the lead.

Dynamite will be launching its Doc Savage comic series in December, with story by Chris Roberson and artist Bilquis Evely.  Roberson plans to begin his story in the 1930s, but to then move each issue forward in time until a series of stand-alone stories spans 80 years.

The first (and second) issue will feature a cover by Alex Ross, with a VIP Edition variant cover (for retailers that order deep) by John Cassaday, and a retailer variant cover by Stephen Segovia.
