Paizo Publishing has an expansion plan for the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game: Rise of the Runelords, based on its bestselling Pathfinder RPG. Paizo will release a Character Add-On Deck ($19.99) in February, which increases the number of players for the game from four to six. The Character Add-On Deck also introduces four new classes to the game (barbarian, druid, monk, and paladin), as well as new monsters and items. Paizo recently signed an agreement with Ultra PRO to produce mini play mats for the card game which will release in November and the second set will feature these expansion classes (see "'Pathfinder Adventure Card Game' Play Mats").
Paizo has explained that including the Add-on Deck, above, there are six total expansions to the deck building game. The first, Burnt Offerings, comes included in the base set, which means differentiation can be confusing. The second expansion (or "Adventure Deck" as Paizo calls them), is the recently released The Skinsaw Murders. The $19.99 deck includes new locations, monsters, villains, and loot as well as five new scenarios based on the Skinsaw Murders adventure.
Planned for December release is The Hook Mountain Massacre Adventure Deck. The 110-card expansion includes new locations monsters, villains and loot as well as five scenarios that cover the adventure path that shares its name. MSRP is set at $19.99.
In February, the Fortress of the Stone Giants Adventure Deck will release. Like previous expansions, it will add locations, monsters, villains and loot and the five scenarios from the Pathfinder adventure of the same name. MSRP is set at $19.99.
April will bring the expected release of the Sins of the Saviors Adventure Deck. Like the others, it will carry an MSRP of $19.99, and contain 110 cards from the Sins of the Saviors adventure path.
Since the expansions are mirroring the Pathfinder: Rise of the Runelords RPG Adventure Path releases, later Spring 2014 will undoubtedly bring Spires of Xin-Shalast as Deck Six.
