Tasty Minstrel Games will release expansions for Eminent Domain and Belfort in mid-December:  Eminent Domain: Escalation and Belfort: The Expansion Expansion.

Both expansions were Kickstarted earlier this year, and in fact, the original Eminent Domain was one of the first board game successes on Kickstarter – back in 2010 it had nearly 700 backers and its $48,378 raised was a tabletop game Kickstarter record that stood for nine months, according to Tasty Minstrel. (Compare that to its expansion, which netted $103,479 back in April.)

Eminent Domain: Escalation is an expansion of the “deck learning” game of galactic civilization building.  Designed by Seth Jaffe, this expansion gives players additional role cards to support a fifth player, new options for ships, new technologies with different costs, a new diverse technology tree, new planets, and options for an asymmetrical set-up.

The Escalation box contains 15 Planet cards, 8 Political cards, 32 Technology cards, 18 Scenario cards, 20 Role cards, 3 Errata cards, Errata stickers, 6 Planet tiles, 5 Fleet tiles, and a Player Aid tile. As an expansion, it does require the base Eminent Domain game (which TMG will have for restock as the expansion releases).  The game is for 2 – 5 players, ages 8 and up, and plays in about 60 minutes.  MSRP is set at $24.95.

Belfort: The Expansion Expansion brings renovation and augmentation to the city-building, worker-placement game of Belfort.  Designed by Jay Cormier and Sen-Foong Lim, the expansion introduces new assistants (to help players or hinder opponents), new guilds, and new scoring paths.

The box contains 20 Expansion Permit cards, 10 Assistant tiles, 8 wooden Assistant pieces, 5 new Guilds and a 16 page rulebook.  As an expansion, it does require the base game to play. The game is for 2- 5 players, ages 12 and up and plays in 90 minutes.  MSRP is set at $19.95.
