First Second Books announced it will be publishing a new trilogy from Faith Erin Hicks, The Nameless City, beginning in 2016.
Hicks made her mark with the webcomic Demonology101, and has released several graphic novels including Zombies Calling, Brain Camp (written by Susan Kim and Laurence Klavan), Friends with Boys, Into the Woods (written by J. Torres), The Adventures of Superhero Girl and Nothing Can Possibly Go Wrong (written by Prudence Shen, see "First Second's Spring Kids Titles").
The Nameless City is described by First Second as "in the tradition of Jeff Smith’s Bone and Avatar: The Last Airbender." The story revolves around an unlikely friendship between Nameless City native Rat, and Kai, who is from the country which recently conquered her city. The two must find common ground between their disparate cultures to work together to foil an evil plot.
"To see my comic sitting beside incredible books like Battling Boy, Delilah Dirk, and Boxers & Saints means a tremendous amount." Hicks said of working with First Second. "I’m absolutely thrilled."
