Andre and Maria Jacquemettons, who were among the first writer producers hired by Matthew Weiner for Mad Men, are teaming with Gravity producer David Heyman to adapt Brian Wood and Riccardo Burchielli’s DMZ comic book series for an ongoing series on the SyFy channel. Published by DC’s Vertigo imprint between 2005 and 2012, DMZ is a post-apocalyptic series set in New York City, which has become a demilitarized zone in the wake of a second American Civil War.
According to Deadline, the Jacquemettons, who left the Mad Men team last May, shared in three of Mad Men’s four "Best Series" Emmies and earned three writing Emmy nominations.
While never a huge hit like fellow Vertigo series Sandman or Y: The Last Man, DMZ received numerous critical plaudits and great notice in mainstream publications (see "DMZ in NYT").
