Bryan Singer’s production company, Bad Hat Harry, has acquired screen rights to Red 5’s Haunted, a comic book ghost story saga that is set to debut in April. Singer, who is currently in post-production with Fox’s X-Men: Days of Future Past, is more than a little familiar with comic book material, and Haunted, which is written by Scott Chitwood and drawn by Danny Luckert and is set in a world which has been overrun by creatures from the spirit world, is a post-apocalyptic saga with more in common with The Walking Dead than a classic ghost story like "The Turn of the Screw."
The protagonist of Haunted is a young girl who has survived the breakdown of society created by the influx of supernatural creatures by keeping to herself. But if she wants to banish the spirit creatures back to their world, she will have to trust and depend on others. According to Empire Online, which broke the story of the deal, there is no word yet whether Singer is thinking of developing Haunted for the big screen or the small screen.
