Capcom, one of the world's leading purveyors of video games, has revealed plans for a yearlong celebration of the fifteenth anniversary of one of its most popular characters, Mega Man.  Originally introduced in 1987, Mega Man has appeared in nearly every game format and platform devised since his birth, and sold a total of over 20 million units worldwide.  The beloved 'Blue Bomber' also debuted on May 17 in a new anime series on the Kids WB network, the top-rated broadcast network for children's programming (see 'Kids WB To Feature Mega Man NT Warrior').  A wide variety of activities and promotions are planned for the coming year to celebrate his anniversary.

Mega Man will be featured for 32 weeks on the opening page of CandyStand.com, a major Internet site with over 30 million visits per week, and the Blue Bomber will also have a presence in the Cinemark Theatre chain throughout the busy summer months.  In the grocery store, Mega Man can be found adorning up to 10 million packs of ASAP popcorn as well as Pik-Nik Foods' Shoestring Potatoes.  In addition in a very targeted promotion, over 20,000 middle schools will participate in nationwide program called 'Minute Maid Mega Man Mondays,' a sweepstakes promotion with a potential audience of some 7.2 million sixth to eighth graders.
