VIZ Media is already making good use of its Studio Ghibli Library imprint this year (see "A Miyazaki Hat Trick"), and plans two more  Hayao Miyazaki hardcover releases for summer and fall: a rerelease of The Art of Princess Mononoke, and a new Princess Mononoke: The First Story storybook.

The Art of Princess Mononoke is a rerelease of the popular Studio Ghibli art book, with an all new translation and presentation.  The story of the 1997 film is told through interviews, concept sketches, character art, finished animation cels and more.  The book will release in August with an MSRP of $34.99.

Princess Mononoke: The First Story was created by Miyazaki in 1980, nearly 20 years before the film.  The oversized illustrated storybook offers a different take from the final film.  In this version, a lost samurai encounters a giant wildcat, a mononoke, in the forest, and the beast saves his life, at the price of his daughter’s hand in marriage.  The book will release in October with an MSRP of $34.99.
