Simon Oliver and Robbi Rodriguez’s Vertigo comic Federal Bureau of Physics (FBP) is being adapted for a film by Warner Bros, with a script written by Justin Marks, Deadline is reporting.
Marks, who has most recently penned the script for the live action The Jungle Book and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: Captain Nemo for Disney, and has credits that include the screenplay for Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li (see "'Street Fighter' Opens February 27th"), seems to still be the go-to writer for geek films, as his credits include Hack/Slash, Voltron, Suicide Squad, and He-Man among others, though none of these titles have actually made it to production.
The Warner Bros. production listed David Goyer, who has credits on Man of Steel and The Dark Knight trilogy among others, as well as involvement in the upcoming Batman/Superman movie, the Constantine TV show (see "'Constantine' Cast Assembled") and the Sandman movie (see "'Sandman' Movie"), as producer.
FBP is set in a world where quantum disturbances happen regularly, necessitating forecasting wormhole locations, gravity losses, and entropy reversals like the weather. The government creates a bureaucratic branch, the Federal Bureau of Physics to deal with the disastrous scientific anomalies.
The first trade paperback was released in February (see "Top 300 Graphic Novels Actual--February 2014").
