IDW Entertainment has announced a development agreement with George Lopez and his Travieso Production Company, to produce an animated TV series based on Ben Templesmith’s Wormwood comic.
David M. Stern (Ugly Americans, Simpsons) will write the pilot episode and serve as an executive producer for the show. "George Lopez is a comic genius and Ben’s graphic novels are epic horror comedy," said Stern. "Building this universe is going to be like a dream. Or maybe more like a super fun nightmare."
Wormwood follows the paranormal adventures of an inter-dimensional worm who animates corpses as host bodies in order to interact with the world. Dapper and snarky, and very squishy, Wormwood’s adventures blends horror and humor in noir tales of demon and monster hunting.
Circle of Confusion (Walking Dead) was also named in executive production duties. IDW Entertainment will fund development.
IDW Entertainment has been wasting no time since it launched the new media division last October, including recently announcing a partnership with eOne Entertainment (see "IDW Signs 'First Look' Deal with eOne").
