WizKids has released details on its first four OP kits for weekly play for both DC and Marvel HeroClix. WizKids will release Monthly Organized Play Kits (for weekly play) beginning in August, and is alternating DC and Marvel sets each month through the end of the year.
WizKids announced plans to start weekly organized play back in March (see "New 'HeroClix' OP Plans" for our interview with CEO Justin Ziran). The monthly kits (for weekly play) will ship the last week of the month, for use in the following month--or anytime thereafter. Kits are available only as long as supply lasts and depending on stores’ demonstrated HeroClix event performance. Stores may order up to 3 kits total.
The first release will be at the end of August. The Marvel HeroClix: X-Men 2014 Monthly Organized Play Kit will include 12 limited edition figures, four copies each of three figures: Angel (with new sculpt and dial), Psylocke (with new dial), and Rogue (with new dial). An OP Addendum and Instruction sheet is also included. The figures are intended as prizes for first place, a fellowship drawing, and flex prize. Figures also interact with their respective team base, in this case the X-Men Team Bases from the Marvel HeroClix: Wolverine and the X-Men set. Release is scheduled for August 27.
The end of September will bring the DC HeroClix: Gen 13 2014 Organized Play Kit. The kit will include 12 limited edition figures, four copies each of three figures: John Lynch (with new sculpt and dial), Sarah Rainmaker (with new dial), and Cheshire (with new dial), as well as the OP Addendum and Instruction sheet. The figures are intended as prizes for first place, a fellowship drawing, and flex prize. Figures also interact with their respective team bases. Street date is September 24th.
The Marvel HeroClix: Excalibur 2014 Monthly Organized Play Kit will arrive at end of October. The kit will include 12 limited edition figures, four copies each of three figures: Pete Wisdom (with new sculpt and dial), Captain Britain (with new dial), and Cannonball (with new dial), as well as an OP Addendum and Instruction sheet. The figures are intended as prizes for first place, a fellowship drawing, and flex prize. Figures also interact with their respective team bases. Release is scheduled for October 29th.
This will be followed by the DC HeroClix : Justice League 2014 Monthly Organized Play Kit on November 26th.
