Retailer Things from Another World (TFAW) and publisher Dynamite Entertainment have launched fundraising efforts for the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund (CBLDF):  support for the annual original art auction at San Diego Comic-Con, and a Humble Bundle.

Dynamite Entertainment also recently announced a 10th Anniversary Humble Bundle collection which will contribute a portion of the proceeds to CBLDF and other charity organizations.

TFAW supports the annual CBLDF Comic-Con auction by soliciting original art to be auctioned.  This year’s donations include pieces by Emma Rios (Pretty Deadly), Frank Quitely (Jupiter’s Legacy),  and Nick Dragotta (East of West) (all pictured here).  Additional pieces will be donated by Larry Marder (Beanworld), Gabriel Ba (B.P.R.D.: Vampire), Jenny Frison (Loki: Agent of Asgard), Fabio Moon (Sugarshock), Mike Norton (Revival), Nick Pitarra (Manhattan Projects), and Tim Seeley (Sundowners).

In addition to the larger original pieces, this year, instead of the traditional sketch cards, TFAW is creating 11" x 17" limited edition art prints as a thank-you to donors.  The prints will be limited to a run of 300 per artist and produced on heavy, silk-finish cover stock.

Dynamite’s Humble Bundle promotion (linked here in the hope that you will be generous to the CBLDF), announced in honor of the company’s 10th anniversary, includes over 100 digital comics and graphic novels in non-DRM formats (CBZ, PDF, Mobi and ePub) for a pay-what-you-want price (for $258.00 worth of comic content).  The purchaser also decides what percentage of the pay-what-you-want-price goes to Dynamite, to charity, or to Humble Bundle.  Three charitable organizations will be offered as options:  the CBLDF, Doctors without Borders, and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.  The promotion runs Wednesday June 25 through Wednesday July 9th, ending at 1:59 pm.  As part of the promotion, every day at 2:00 pm, a digital comic book will be made available for free download, beginning with Red Sonja #1--written by Gail Simone.

The bundle will include content from contributors including Warren Ellis, Grant Morrison, Tim Seeley, Fred Van Lente, Mark Millar, Amanda Hocking, and Bryan Johnson among others.  There will also be bonus content made available to purchasers who "beat the average" of buyer-determined pricing (currently $11.50). Titles by Kevin Smith, Gail Simone, Jim Butcher, Bill Willingham, Alan Moore, and George R.R. Martin will be included.  For buyers who exceed a fixed pricing threshold ($15.00), The Dynamite Art of Alex Ross and Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time series will also be included.

The Humble Bundle digital content platform has enabled the community to donate more than $39 million to charity over the years, and recently expanded into digital book content.  As of this writing, 12,077 bundles have been sold, for payments of $138,924.55 ($11.50 average).
