Variety is reporting that Revolution Studios has optioned Jason Lethcoe's comic series Zoom's Academy For the Super Gifted for producers Suzanne and Jennifer Todd (Memento) to develop as a live action movie.  Variety described Zoom's Academy as a 'Harry Potter-like project about an unpopular high school girl who is whisked away by her mysterious father to a school for superheroes, where she discovers her powers.'  According to Variety the property was acquired for the low six figures and the producers are looking for writers for the project, which means that it is several years away from the silver screen, if it can make it through 'development hell,' that Hollywood slough of despond that has swallowed thousands of projects over the years.

Lethcoe, the author of Zoom's Academy and a former Disney animator, is currently working out of Sony Pictures Animation and also serving as a story editor on Mike Kunkel's Herobear & the Kid at Universal (see 'Universal Options Herobear').  Kunkel's imprint Astonish Comics publishes Zoom's Academy.
