San Diego Comic-Con News: In a panel on Friday, director Sam Raimi revealed he’s writing an Evil Dead TV show, with Bruce Campbell, Robert Tapert and Ivan Raimi.
According to Empire Online, the filmmaker made the announcement during a Q&A on Friday where he was appearing to discuss his role as producer for a movie adaptation of the Naughty Dog / Sony Computer Entertainment action-adventure survival horror video game. No other details were announced.
With last year’s Evil Dead remake doing fairly well (see "'Evil Dead' Shocks Box Office to Life") and the Army of Darkness comic celebrating its 10th Anniversary at Dynamite (see "Dynamite Launching 'Army of Darkness' #1992.1 in November"), the property has proved long-lived. And with shows like Walking Dead and Game of Thrones proving that both zombie and fantasy period dramas can dominate the small screen, a TV version of the horror comedy may actually be viable.
