Despite the pre-production talent shuffle in front of and behind the camera, Marvel’s Ant-Man is on track, with principal photography set to begin next week in Atlanta, according to Variety.
The film lost Edgar Wright as director (see "Marvel Loses Director, Showrunner") back in May, which led to a production delay that required Patrick Wilson to bow out over scheduling conflicts (see "Three Actors Leave 'Ant-Man' Production"), but apparently new director Peyton Reed is ready to get to work.
Marvel’s Kevin Feige has been trying to calm the shaken fan base by touting Reed’s geek cred, though the director is more well known for helming mainstream flicks like Bring It On and Yes Man. Feige revealed that Reed was in the running to direct Guardians of the Galaxy, and touted his long attachment to the 20th Century Fox adaptation of Fantastic Four (see "Director Leaves 'Fantastic Four' Film"). Also, this year was apparently Reed’s 20th year attending San Diego Comic-Con.
There was plenty of Ant-Man content revealed at San Diego Comic-Con, including the announcement of Evangeline Lily and Corey Stoll joining the cast (see "Evangeline Lily & Corey Stoll Join 'Ant-Man' Cast") and the new poster reveal (see "Marvel's 'Ant-Man' Concept Art Poster").
