At Gen Con, ICv2 spoke with Ares Games’ Production and R&D Director Roberto Di Meglio, about upcoming releases for WWII Wings of Glory, Sails of Glory, Dino Race, and the upcoming expansions for Galaxy Defenders.

Ares hosted a daily "Queen of the Skies" event at Gen Con for a limited unveiling of the WWII Wings of Glory Special Packs which consist of the 4-engine bombers B-17 and Avro Lancaster.  "These new bombers have a special pack because they not only include the airplane but industrial complex cards and specific rules for the industrial complex," Di Meglio said.  "One of the Lancasters is a famous 'Dambuster' (Avro Lancaster B Mk. III "Dambuster"), and so we created a small 'Dambuster' expansion around that which includes a game mat with dams and special rules for the bombing of the dams."  The planes include the B-17F "Memphis Belle," the B-17G "A Bit o' Lace," the Arvo Lancaster B Mk.III "Grog's The Shot," and the Avro Lancaster B Mk. III "Dambuster."  Each pack has an MSRP of $34.90. As expansions, a WWII Rules and Accessories Pack is required to play.

"For Sails of Glory, we have the HMS Victory and the USS Constitution which are in production right now and we expect to release before the end of the year," Di Meglio said.  The ship releases will include captain and commander cards for some of the most famous captains from the ships, including Admiral Howe and Nelson for the Victory and Bainbridge and Stewart for the Constitution.  Sails of Glory was funded via a Kickstarter last year (see "'Sails of Glory' and 'Galaxy Defenders'").

Ares’ family game Dino Race was announced earlier this year (see "Ares Games to Unveil 'Dino Race' at GTS"), but Di Meglio confirmed the game will release to trade in October, in time for Essen.  The game includes 8 dinosaur figures, a sculpted dino egg, 16 modular terrain tiles to form the racing track, a die, 52 playing cards, tokens and counters.  The game is for 2-4 players, ages 6 and up, and play sin 20 minutes.  MSRP was not announced.

Expansions for Galaxy Defenders (see "Two New 'Galaxy Defenders' Expansions") were also highlighted, and Di Meglio said they are planned for early 2015 release.
