Mayfair Games has announced two new board games for November release: Murano and Patchwork.

Murano is designed by Inka and Markus Brand, designers of the 2012 Kennerspiel des Jahres winner Village (see "'Kingdom Builder' Wins Spiel des Jahres") as well as La Boca and A Castle for All Season, and featuring art by Klemens Franz, who did artwork for the Agricola line and Caverna: The Cave Farmers (see "Mayfair to Distribute 'Caverna'").

The game is set in Murano, Italy (near Venice), a group of seven islands well known for their artisan glass.  Players use resource management skills to position their shops in a skillful manner to attract tourists, who will travel among the island areas via gondola, spending their money.  Players also control the gondoliers, so their placement is crucial to maximizing shop profitability.

The box contains 8 ships, 40 character cards, 42 street tiles, 48 building titles (12 each of glass factory, shop, palace, and special building), 15 special building cards, 1 island tile, 1 bag, 30 acrylic beads, 32 gondoliers, 60 markers, 49 coins, game board and a rulebook.  The game is for 2 -4 players, ages 10 and up, and plays in 60-75 minutes.  MSRP is $60.00.

Patchwork is a quilting game that should appeal to fans of Rio Grande’s recently released Quilt Show (see "'Quilt Show'").  Patchwork is a two-person game by Agricola designer Uwe Rosenberg, with art by Klemens Franz.  Players compete to construct the most beautiful artisan quilt, using leftover pieces of fabric that fit together.  There is a time element involved, as well as the need to keep enough buttons on hand to complete the project.

The box contains 33 patches, 50 button tiles, 2 quilt boards , a two-sided central time board, 2 time tokens, a neutral token, and a rulebook.  The game is for two players, ages 8 and up, and plays in 15 minutes.  MSRP is $25.00.
