Monte Cook Games will release The Cypher System Rulebook, a comprehensive book detailing the in-house role playing game system used in both Numenera and The Strange, for Summer 2015.

The book will draw on content already published for Numenera (see "'Numenera' B&M Promotion") and The Strange RPGs (see "'The Strange' Corebook and 'Player's Guide'"), but tailor the information to be playable in different genres including superhero, steampunk, Victorian horror, high fantasy, espionage, and  sci-fi.  The book will include hundreds of new types, descriptors, foci, creatures, cyphers, and genre-specific rules elements, as well as advice on using the system to build and run campaigns.

"Our fans are constantly asking us, ‘When are you going to release a superhero RPG?’ or a science fiction RPG, or whatever," said Cypher System Designer Monte Cook.  "We could make a dozen games based on the Cypher System, but what we’d rather do is give gamers all the tools they need to play the games they want."

"The game system is really flexible," said Senior Designer Bruce R. Cordell.  "We’ve played in-house campaigns in other settings using the Cypher System, and they’ve also required almost no modifications, just new content for the setting."
