Dynamite Entertainment announced a new Humble Bundle promotion which will contribute a portion of the proceeds to Comic Book Legal Defense Fund and other charity organizations.
This Humble Bundle (linked here in hope that readers will be generous to the CBLDF) will include 56 comics valued at over $200, and includes content from Kevin Smith, Patricia Brigs, Alice Cooper, Marc Waid, Howard Chaykin, and more. Fans who beat the average price (currently $8.13) will also receive 105 comics worth a combined value of more than $380. Purchasers who support Dynamite’s comics and creators by spending $15.00 or more will receive 143 comics total, which represent over $600 of content, as well as bonus content including Zorro Vol. 1, The Complete Dracula, The Romita Legacy, The Boys: Definitive Edition Vol. 1, and The Heart of the Beast Graphic Novel 20th Anniversary Edition.
The purchaser also decides what percentage of the pay-what-you-want-price goes to Dynamite, to charity, or to Humble Bundle. Three charitable organizations will be offered as options: the CBLDF, Doctors without Borders, and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The promotion runs Wednesday, December 10th, through Wednesday, December 24th, ending at 11 am PDT. As part of the promotion, every day at 2:00 pm EST a digital comic book will be made available for free download, beginning with Red Sonja #7--written by Gail Simone.
Dynamite offered a previous Humble Bundle as part of its 10th Anniversary, which also benefited CBLDF (see "Comic-Con Auction, Dynamite Humble Bundle to Benefit CBLDF"). That bundle included over 100 digital comics and graphic novels in non-DRM formats (CBZ, PDF, Mobi and ePub) for $258.00 worth of comic content, and raised over $100,000.
The Humble Bundle digital content platform has enabled donations of more than $48 million to charity over the years, and recently expanded into digital book content. As of this writing, nearly 6,000 of the new Dynamite bundles have been sold, raising a total of over $50,000.
