Geek films made up over half of the top 20 mos -pirated films of 2014, according to information provided by Excipio to Variety.  RoboCop came in at #3, but the info was clouded by the fact that both the 1987 and 2014 versions have the same title and were included in the number of downloads recorded. 

The Hobbit got less popular among pirates in 2014, with The Desolation of Smaug coming in at #5; The Hobbit:  An Unexpected Journey was #1 last year (see "'The Hobbit' Is Most Pirated").

Marvel films were three of the top ten most pirated films, and comic-based films were six of the top 20.
