A manga title has cracked the top 20 list of adult fiction trade paperback titles in bookstores.  Tokyopop's Chobits Volume 7 was the #17 best-selling title on the Bookscan list for the week ending August 10th.  Although manga titles have previously hit the top 50 adult fiction list (see 'Manga Makes Bestselling Adult Trade Fiction List'), this is a new high.  Love Hina Volume 13 also made adult fiction trade paper list, at #27.  Those two titles held the top two slots on the Adult Fiction Graphic Novel list for the week.

With the passing of the Marvel movie effect, manga reclaimed nine of the top ten graphic novel slots and 46 of the top 50 for the week.  Six of the top ten graphic novel titles were Tokyopop, and 30 of the top 50.  Three of the top ten and 16 of the top 50 were Viz (with Naruto Volume 1 at #3 its top title).

Two of the four non-manga titles were the U.S.-produced but manga-esque Megatokyo (Ironcat) and Death at Death's Door (DC), meaning that only two of the top fifty graphic novel titles in bookstores had no manga connection!  DC's League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, showing legs far better than the movie's, hung in the top ranks at #5, and Marvel's Wolverine Origin was #42.
