Continuing a trend toward retailer exclusives on pop culture products, a manga and an anime producer have each announced special packages that will be sold exclusively through retail chains.  Tokyopop confirmed for us today that Borders and Waldenbooks will have an exclusive on Chobits #8 Special Edition, which includes the 8th volume of the manga series, a collectors box that will hold all eight volumes, and a figurine of Chi.  This is not the first manga exclusive to go to the Borders Group; Viz granted the group a six month exclusive on four volumes of DiGi Charat earlier this year (see 'Viz Gives Borders/Waldens Di Gi Charat Exclusive').

Urban Vision has announced that Best Buy will have a special package of Ninja Scroll:  The Series,Volume 1, which will include a bonus CD-ROM with extra features.  It will be a limited run, available only while supplies last.

Other retailer exclusives granted on pop culture products this year include Hot Topic's exclusive on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim properties (see 'Hot Topic Gets Adult Swim Exclusive'), and Wal-Mart's exclusive deal with Disney for Kim Possible products (see 'Disney Gives Wal-Mart Kim Possible Exclusive').
