David Hintz of Camelot Comics and Games in Newberg, Oregon saw the recent Talk Back comment on reorder discounts (see 'Retailer Group Asks Diamond for Reorder Charge Cut') and wants to add his voice to the chorus:

I own/manage Camelot Comics and Games in Newberg Oregon and I would like to add this concerning the Diamond reorder discount.  As the industry moves more and more to graphic novels from the normal comic books, reorders become more and more important.  I would say for us here at Camelot we have reached the point where dollar for dollar we sell more GNs then comics.  On such titles as Tokyopop, where the original discount is only 45%, for a reorder it becomes 43%; add in shipping (which some distributors pay if you place a large enough order) and yes other distributors start looking a lot better.  With a lot of titles (non-Big Four) on which there is a reorder 3% 'ding' on the discount, I try to wait for a relisting in Previews (which does not always happen).  So I would also like to add my name to the list of stores that are requesting Diamond to change this, because I would prefer to use them then have to look for another distributor for my reorders (which I was doing at the moment).
