Shonen Jump Sales Skyrocket to 305,000!

Single Issue Hits 540,000 Copies Sold

Sales for 'normal' issues of Viz anthology Shonen Jump have increased more than 60% since midyear, increasing from 190,000 to 305,000.  The August issue (#9), thanks to being heavily promoted and the inclusion of a CD-ROM demo for a Yu-Gi-Oh! PC-based video game, sold a whopping 540,000 copies.

The First Anniversary Edition of Shonen Jump, shipping early December, will include an exclusive Yu-Gi-Oh! tournament legal monster trading card (see 'Exclusive Yu-Gi-Oh! Card in December Shonen Jump'), which should provide another sales boost.  Also, Hikaru no Go, the story about a 12-year-old boy who is possessed by a 1,000 year-old ghost obsessed with playing the complex game Go, will debut in this 360-page special issue.
