Games Workshop released financial statements for the first half of its fiscal year this week, and sales were up 24% over the year ago period, and earnings up 12%.  The growth rate beat the 19% rate for GW's last full fiscal year (see 'GW's Sales, Profits Grow').

Growth was fastest in the UK, where sales were up 37%.  Sales in Continental Europe and the Americas were both up 16%, and in Asia sales were up 5%.

Continuing its strategy of building retail square footage in the U.S., GW opened 19 new stores in the Americas during the period, out of a total of 25 new stores worldwide.  This 35% increase in the number of stores brings the total to 73 stores in the Americas.
