Chuck Gordon of Daybreak Productions and Adrian Askarieh of Prime Universe Productions have acquired the feature film rights to the Sword of Dracula comic book series written by Jason Henderson and published by Image Comics.  Gordon produced the Die Hard movies, while Askarieh is the producer of the new Spy Hunter film, which will star The Rock.

Henderson's Sword of Dracula is a new take on the old legend, with Dracula portrayed as the world's most dangerous terrorist.  And the producers are planning a major action movie rather than anything resembling the romantic Dracula films of the past.  Dracula's antagonist in Sword of Dracula is Veronica 'Ronnie' Van Helsing, the leader of a UN covert operation team known as the Polidorium.

The third issue of Image's Sword of Dracula is due out in March.  In addition to Sword of Dracula, Henderson, who has published five novels, also writes the new Soulcatcher comic book series from Moonstone, which also debuts in March.  So far no writers, directors, or stars are attached to the Sword of Dracula project.
