Natsume Maya has reported that a new anime series based on Kosuke Fujishima's Oh! My Goddess manga (aka Ah! My Goddess) is in the works in Japan.  This would be the third anime version of Fujishima's sexy and popular manga series, which is published in the U.S. by Dark Horse.  The first production was a five-part OAV series produced in 1993-1994 and distributed in the U.S. by Animeigo.  The second Oh! My Goddess anime production was a feature length movie produced in Japan in 2000 and released in the U.S. by Pioneer (now Geneon) in 2001.  The format of the new Oh! My Goddess anime remains a mystery.

Dark Horse's Oh! My Goddess manga series has been around in the U.S. for quite some time -- Dark Horse recently announced the eighteenth Oh! My Goddess trade paperback collection -- and has a devoted following.  With its combination of great art and a bevy of sexy female characters, the property has Love Hina potential -- and a new anime series could be just what is needed to expand the core audience for Oh! My Goddess here in the U.S.  As more facts about the new series (or feature) become available (there is supposed to be an announcement in the issue of Kodansha's Afternoon manga anthology, which streets on March 25 in Japan), ICv2 will keep you informed.
