White Wolf has announced additional details concerning its revamped World of Darkness line of role-playing games.  In contrast to the first incarnation of World of Darkness, which consisted of numerous games each with a hardcover rulebook and many softcover supplements, White Wolf now plans to publish fewer, meatier supplements, all of which will be released in the form of durable hardcovers.

In fact, all role-playing supplements for the World of Darkness will be at least 128 pages (and usually 160 pages or more).  White Wolf plans on publishing two WoD books every month for a total of 24 RPG releases a year.

The core rulebook for the entire World of Darkness line comes out in August, accompanied by Vampire: The Requiem, the flagship title for the WoD vampire storyline (see 'World of Darkness Relaunch Set').  White Wolf's previous vampire game, Vampire: The Masquerade, averaged sales of over 400,000 units per year for the last four years.  White Wolf plans to keep to its two books a month schedule in 2005 even after other game lines such as Werewolf: The Forsaken (February. see 'Werewolf:  The Forsaken Delayed Until February') and Mage: The Awakening join the WOD RPG universe.

White Wolf will continue to produce fiction titles, play aids, and merchandise items in addition to its two major hardcover releases per month.  The Exalted and Sword & Sorcery game lines, which are not part of the World of Darkness, will continue their established publishing patterns with a blend of hardcover and softcover releases.
