Funimation Productions has announced that the first DVD in its Fullmetal Alchemist series will street on January 18, 2005.  The DVD will be available in a Standard Edition ($29.98 SRP) and a Limited Edition ($39.98).  The Limited Edition will come in a striking metal artbox and will also include a special premium, which has not yet been announced.  The series, which has been enormously popular in Japan, debuts on the Cartoon Network during the Adult Swim block on November 6 at 12 am (ET, PT).

The story of two brothers, who are severely injured while pushing their alchemical skills to the limit in an attempt to revive their dead mother, Fullmetal Alchemist mixes fantasy, retro alternate history science fiction, robots, and lots of adventure into a delicious brew that should find favor with a broad audience once it airs on the Cartoon Network (see 'FUNimation Lands Fullmetal Alchemist').
