The Game Manufacturers Association has announced on its Website, that after receiving over 130 resumes in a nationwide search, the GAMA Board of Directors has unanimously decided to name Operations Director Anthony Gallela to the post of Executive Director of the Game Industry's chief trade organization.  Don Perrin, GAMA Board President, explained the decision this way, 'Anthony has the skills for the job, with a strong knowledge of both GAMA and the games industry.'

Gallela's extensive background in gaming goes back to his high school years when he ran game programs at science fiction conventions.  He co-owned ManaFest and KublaCon, managed a game store and worked as a game designer for Kenzer and Co. and Backstage Press.  During his time at GAMA, Gallela has been directly involved in the growth and success of both the GAMA Trade Show (GTS) and Origins.

One of Gallela's first actions as Executive Director was to make suggestions on more strategic ways to use the organization's resources during a time of financial stress.  GAMA Treasurer Mark MacKinnon has indicated that the organization's budget difficulties were 'sobering, but not dire,' and that they could be resolved by making 'vital changes to accounting procedures and the reduction of non-essential expenses.'
