Sony Pictures has announced that Katsuhiro Otomo's Steamboy will be released theatrically in the U.S. on March 18th, 2005. No news yet on how broadly the film will be released, the types of venues in which it will play, or the staging of the release.
Otomo began work on Steamboy, the most expensive anime feature ever at around $20 million, in 1995 and released it in Japan earlier this year (see 'Steamboy To Debut in July').
Steamboy is the first feature Otomo has directed since the release of Akira.
