IDT Entertainment has announced plans for a series of 13 one-hour horror films by an impressive roster of genre directors and writers, to be called the Masters of Horror Film Anthology.

Among the directors that will be involved are John Carpenter, Joe Dante, Tobe Hooper, John Landis, George Romero, Don Coscarelli, Mick Garris, and Stuart Gordon.  Writers include Richard C. Matheson, Steve Niles, David Schow, Michael Brandt and Derek Haas.

The film for the Masters of Horror Film Anthology will be the first collaboration of writer Kim Henkel and Tobe Hooper since Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

This series grew out of a bi-monthly dinner attended by several of the directors involved, who concluded that the anthology format would be a good way to tell new stories in their favored genre.

Given the length, these are unlikely candidates for theatrical release.  Home video distribution is definite (via Anchor Bay), probably in conjunction with some form of TV.
