Geneon Entertainment has announced an agreement with Toei Animation under which it will distribute Toei's anime programming on DVD in the U.S. and Canada. Toei is the producer of Dragonball Z, Sailor Moon, and Digimon. The first properties that Geneon will distribute under the agreement are Air Master, Interlude, and Slam Dunk.
Toei material is currently distributed by a number of companies in the U.S. FUNimation has been producing the American versions of the various Dragon Ball incarnations for many years. 4 Kids Entertainment recently got into the act and is now handling One Piece and Magical Doremi in the States. The Zatch Bell property is represented in the States by ShoPro Entertainment; anime rights have not yet been announced. No word on what, if anything, will happen to the existing U.S. deals for Toei material.
