Hayao Miyazaki's Howl's Moving Castle (Hauru no Ugoku Shiro) accounted for an astounding 72% of Japanese box office revenues last weekend, according to Variety.  First weekend box office revenues were $14.3 million.  The new film by the creator of Princess Mononoke and the Oscar-winning Spirited Away has been garnering critical acclaim around the world (see 'Howl's Moving Castle Wows Venice'), and now with its release in its home market, has begun to accumulate revenues as well.  Although it will probably only get a modest box office release in the States (from Disney), it can be counted on to contribute major DVD revenues when it's released for home video, which will hopefully be in the first half of 2005.
