According to the Hollywood Reporter, Matthew Vaughn (no relation to Robert Vaughn, the original Napoleon Solo) is in negotiations with Warner Bros. to direct a theatrical version of the classic TV series, The Man From U.N.C.L.E., which appeared on NBC from 1964-1968.  The series, which starred Robert Vaughn and David McCallum as agents for the United Network Command for Law and Enforcement battling against the minions of T.H.R.U.S.H. (Technological Hierarchy for the Removal of Undesirables and the Subjugation of Humanity), benefited from some sharply written scripts (Harlan Ellison penned a couple), and, at least initially, perfectly captured the lighthearted zeitgeist of that pre-major involvement in Vietnam, mid-sixties era (though the series' final two seasons were disappointing).

Matthew Vaughn, who is likely to direct the screen adaptation of The Man From U.N.C.L.E, produced Guy Ritchie's Snatch and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, and helmed the British gangster film, Layer Cake.
