Variety has reported that Jeph Loeb will be writing the screenplay for Will Eisner's The Spirit film.  Loeb has written two Eisner award-winning Batman limited series, The Long Halloween and Dark Victory, along with being a supervising producer on TV's popular Smallville series.

Eisner reportedly gave his approval to this film project, originally announced last year (see 'Hollywood Options Three More Comic Book Properties'), before his passing earlier this year.

Batfilm's Michael Uslan will co-produce, along with Odd Lot's Gigi Pritzker and Deborah Del Prete.
