According to the Hollywood Reporter Platinum Studios has hired the screenwriters of Sahara, Joshua Oppenheimer and Tom Donnelly, to pen the script for Dead of Night, a 'paranormal' private eye adventure based on the Italian comic book series Dylan Dog, which has sold more than 80 million copies worldwide since its launch in 1985.

Between 1999 and 2002 Dark Horse Comics published seven volumes of an American edition of Dylan Dog, 'The World's Premier Nightmare Detective.'  Unfortunately the books are not available from Dark Horse at this time.

Dead of Night will be based on two Dylan Dog graphic novels and is currently budgeted at $35 million.  Platinum Studios Scott Mitchell Rosenberg is producing along with Ervin Rustemagic.  Platinum had another Dylan Dog project set up at Dimension Films, but reacquired the rights when the option lapsed.  Late last year Platinum announced that a Dylan Dog CGI feature was in the works (see 'Platinum Announces Dylan Dog').
