Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman, co-creators of the Dragonlance world, will pen a new hardcover fantasy trilogy, The Dark Chronicles, for Wizards of the Coast.  In the new trilogy Weis & Hickman return to the period of the original Dragonlance Chronicles and will utilize some of the most popular heroes (including Flint, Tanis, Tasslehoff, and Caramon and Raistlin Majere) and villains (Kitiara, Lord Soth) from that era.  According to Hickman, 'The Dark Chronicles tells the tales that took place between the chapters of the original Dragonlance Chronicles, it is intended to mesh smoothly with the established story millions have come to know and love.'

WotC expects to publish the first hardcover volume in the new Dragonlance Dark Chronicles series in the 2006.  The Dark Chronicles will be the first new Weis & Hickman collaboration since Dragons of a Vanished Moon, the final volume in the best-selling War of Souls trilogy (see 'WotC Has NY Times Best-Sellers'), which came out in 2002.

The world of Dragonlance is a popular campaign setting for the Dungeons & Dragons RPG from Wizards of the Coast, and Devil's Due publishes a Dragonlance comic book (see 'Devil's Due Licenses D&D).
