Sony Pictures Television's cartoon series based on Aaron McGruder's award winning and politically charged The Boondocks comic strip will debut at 11pm (ET, PT) October 2nd on the Cartoon Network's Adult Swim.  Aaron McGruder serves as executive producer on The Boondocks animated series, which is produced by Rebel Base and Reggie (Black Panther) Hudlin's Hudlin Entertainment in association with Sony.  Fifteen episodes are currently in production.

Regina King (Miss Congeniality 2, Ray) will provide the voices for both the 10-year-old Huey Freeman and his 8-year-old brother Riley.  John Witherspoon (Friday After Next) voices the key role of Grandad, while an eclectic mix of actors including Mos Def (The Italian Job), Ed Asner (Elf), and Charley Murphy (Chappelle's Show) lend their vocal talents in various episodes as guest characters.

Trade paperback collections of McGruder's Boondocks syndicated comic strip continue to sell well although the strip's political content keeps it out of many papers--look for the Cartoon Network exposure to provide a boost to sales of Boondocks trade paperbacks.
