Based on Top Cow Graphic Novel

Renny Harlin, director of Die Hard 2 and The Long Kiss Goodbye, has signed on to direct an adaptation of the Top Cow graphic novel The Covenant.  TV scribe Aron Coleite (Crossing Jordan) wrote The Covenant, which Tone Rodriguez illustrated.  The Top Cow graphic novel tells the story of four boys who learn they about to inherit awesome powers as the descendants of four powerful warlock families and that together they can form a powerful 'covenant.'  During a summer of experimentation as they learn the scope of their powers they accidentally unleash a powerful evil force on an unsuspecting world.

Production on The Covenant movie is scheduled to start in October.  Harlin, who has demonstrated considerable talent with action-packed subjects but who hasn't had a hit since 1999, should be a good fit for this dark fantasy/adventure property.
