The Navarre Corporation, which also owns FUNimation Productions, has announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, BCI Eclipse Company, LLC., achieved the #17 ranking on the VideoScan chart of DVD sales for the week ending July 17, 2005 with its He-Man and the Masters of the Universe 10 Best Episodes DVD release.  The He-Man DVD reached the highest chart position attained by any independent studio release during the July 17th sales week.

BCI Eclipse has scheduled the release of a 6-DVD box set featuring He-Man and the Masters of the Universe Season One (MSRP $49.98) for October 18th, 2005.  BCI wisely sought the aid of MOTU maven Val Staples for the creation of the He-Man DVD line and the Season One Box set comes with 33 episodes plus a host of extras including two documentaries, 2 art cards, the first section of a 4-part spine mural, plus scripts, character bios, and storyboards.

The first He-Man DVD was released on July 12th in conjunction with the San Diego Comic-Con (see 'He-Man Heads to DVD).  In addition to the He-Man DVDs, NECA is releasing three waves of 6-inch MOTU figures designed by the Four Horsemen.  The strong sales of the initial DVD indicate that there is life left in this venerable property yet.
