WizKids Inc. announced at GenCon that it has obtained the license to produce a CCG based on the SCI FI Channel series Battlestar Galactica from Universal Studios Consumer Products Group.   The game will be launched around March 2006, as the airing of the second season of the hit series ends.

The Battlestar Galactica CCG is being designed by Jim Long, formerly Vice President of Game Design at WizKids and now a freelance designer, and Matt Robinson, WizKids Director of Game Design.   Among the elements that will tie the game to the show will be the cut corners of the game cards and the rulebook, similar to paper objects depicted in the series.

The game will be marketed with sample cards in the Battlestar Galactica Season Two DVD, with ads in SCI FI Magazine, and with other sampling programs.  WizKids is also considering TV support for the game.

WizKids will provide organized play support for the Battlestar Galactica CCG, which will connect to the show by awarding a visit to the set to at least one winner.
