Palladium Books, publishers of the Rifts RPG game system since 1990, has revealed that it is in discussions with Jerry Bruckheimer Productions regarding a Rifts movie.  According to a company release,  Palladium was contacted by Bruckheimer Productions 'a while back,' and that discussions have been ongoing ever since.  'It seems Rifts somehow caught Mr. Bruckheimer's attention through a Rifts fan,' the release said, 'and he fell in love with the concept and some of the key characters.'   Of course, at this early stage there is no guarantee that any deal will ever be signed, or that a movie will be made if one is.

Palladium is represented by Surge Comic Properties.  Mark Freedman and Surge are most famous for their development of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles property.  The only current Rifts license was to Precedence for the Rifts CCG (see 'Rifts CCG') which has just shipped.

Then next Rifts product up from Palladium is the Rifts Game Master Guide, due this month.  Palladium is expecting big things from this book, and has committed to reprint quickly if it sells out quickly, as is hoped.
