CrossGeneration Comics has announced that it's signed an exclusive long-term development deal with Branded Entertainment for the development and production of movie and TV projects based on any and all of CrossGen's properties.  As part of the deal, any projects will be executive produced by Michael Uslan, who had that role on all four of Warner Bros.' Batman films, the OAV Batman Beyond movie, and a Batman animated feature.  Uslan won an Emmy for best animated series as executive producer  of Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego with DIC and Fox Kids.

Uslan described the type of properties with which he tries to associate himself.  'My company is called Branded Entertainment for a reason,' he said.  'We search for brands that can be built into worldwide franchises spawning sequels, television series, cartoons, publishing, music and merchandising.  With CrossGen Comics, we immediately have ten different first-class literary properties that fit the 'franchise' bill, which is what most studios and networks are looking for right now.

The deal has a somewhat unconventional structure for Hollywood, which CrossGen believes will allow it to get projects developed more quickly than the traditional path.  Uslan will begin actively shopping the CrossGen properties to studios, directors, writers, and other significant decision-makers immediately.
