Archie Comic Publications has reached an agreement with the Australian twin sisters Jessica and Lisa Origliasso, aka The Veronicas, paving the way for the singing twins to join with Archie Comics for a range of cross-marketing, promotional and merchandising opportunities.

The parties reached the agreement following a legal dispute concerning the use of the name 'The Veronicas.'  Archie Comic Publications holds a trademark for the name 'Veronica' and served the Australian duo with a cease and desist order.  The head of The Veronicas'management company then arranged a meeting with the principals at Archie, who soon realized that The Veronicas provide a great opportunity to cross-market with their Archie characters.

The singing twins chose the name 'The Veronicas' because 'as kids growing up in Australia we always loved Veronica from Archie Comics.  She was the bad brunette with attitude and we felt a real kinship with her.'  The Veronicas will release their debut album (currently available online) The Secret Life of... on Valentine's Day.  Cross promotions with Archie Comics are in development.
