Fox will release every Planet of the Apes movie and TV episode in one gigantic set on March 28th.  Planet of the Apes:  The Ultimate DVD Collection will be a 14-disc set with a $179.98 MSRP, all packaged with a limited edition ape-head shaped bust packaging based on Roddy McDowall's character Caesar (from Conquest of the Planet of the Apes).

The set will include the original five films (all presented in anamorphic widescreen) from the 60s and 70s, the 1974 live action TV series, the 1975 animated series Return to the Planet of the Apes, and the two-disc special edition of the Tim Burton remake.  The 13-episode animated series has never before been released on DVD; it will also be released separately, according to Home Media Retailing.  And the six-disc set of the five original films and the accompanying documentary will be re-issued as Planet of the Apes Legacy Edition.

The timing may tie in to the planned release of another big monkey release -- Peter Jackson's King Kong is rumored to be slated for release on DVD on the same date.
