Director Michael Bay has announced on his Website that he will begin shooting the long-awaited Transformers film in May.  According to Bay's post: 'Steven Spielberg has been very involved with me on the script, working with Kurtzman and Orci, who just came off of Mission Impossible Three.'  The new Transformers film is expected to combine live action and computer animated graphics -- and according to Bay; 'The alien robots are awesome...we have some mind-blowing images and action in this film.'

Bay also notes that the Transformers film should be able to make its target debut date of July 4, 2007 (see 'Transformers Stake Out Independence Day'), which could create a scheduling conflict with the second Fantastic Four film (see 'Fantastic Four Sequel Set').  Who will be the first to blink in this cinematic stare down?  Bay, for one, is confident: 'How much do you want to bet Fantastic Four will move after they see our stuff?'  Stay tuned to see how this Tinseltown tussle turns out.
