The groundbreaking Masters of American Comics exhibit, which began at two prestigious Los Angeles museums last fall (see 'Comic Artists Feted at Two LA Museums'), is going on the road this year to museums in Milwaukee and the New York area.  The Los Angeles and New York exhibitions are both joint efforts of two museums, one handling comic strip art and the other comic book art, while in Milwaukee the entire exhibit will be seen in a single museum.  The traveling exhibition is the first time major American art museums have exhibited comic art, a long overdue recognition of the contributions of comic artists to American art.

The Milwaukee Museum of Art, a spectactular building that was the first American design by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, will host the exhibit from April 29th to August 13th.

The show then moves to the Jewish Museum in New York City and the Newark Museum in Newark, New Jersey, where it opens simultaneously on September 15th.
