Star Wars Live Action TV Series

Simmering Slowly

Scifi.com is reporting that a live action Star Wars TV series, which will take place in the 20-year gap between Episode III and Episode IV, is at least 18 months away.  According to Rick McCallum, the co-producer of the Star Wars movies, series creator George Lucas has just begun interviewing writers for the live action project.  A Clone Wars-like animated series is in production, but it probably won't debut for at least a year given the time involved in bringing an animation project to fruition.

McCallum also told Scifi.com that Lucas was still planning to create 3-D theatrical version of the six Star Wars films (see 'Star Wars in 3-D'), but that will require at least two or three thousand properly equipped (with digital projection) theaters -- and it will probably take at least 18 months before enough theaters are outfitted with digital projection equipment.
